Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
ParentPact is built for families in difficult circumstances. We take the privacy of your communications and your children's information seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, information created as you use the app, and a limited amount of technical information.
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account information | Name, email address, password (stored hashed), profile photo, and your family/household association. |
| Children's information | Details you add about your children: names, dates of birth, medical notes, emergency contacts, activities, and documents you upload. |
| Communications | Messages you send to your co-parent, attachments, and read receipts. Messages are permanent by design (see §8). |
| Calendar & finances | Calendar events, parenting-time schedules, expenses, receipts, and reimbursement requests. |
| Calls | Call metadata (participants, time, duration) and, only when both parties consent, call recordings. |
| Subscription | Subscription status and a subscriber identifier from our payments provider. We never receive or store your full card number. |
| Device & technical | Push-notification token, device/OS type, app version, and basic diagnostic logs. |
2. How we use your information
- To provide the core service — messaging, calendar, expense tracking, calls, and exports.
- To run the tone checker on messages before they send (see §3).
- To generate timestamped, watermarked PDF exports at your request.
- To manage your subscription and family entitlement.
- To send you notifications you've enabled and important service or legal notices.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages or your children's information to serve advertising.
3. Message content and AI tone checking
ParentPact checks the tone of a message before it is sent and can suggest a calmer rewrite. To do this, the text of the message you are composing is processed on our servers. When a message is flagged as advisory, the text may be sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a suggested rewrite. This processing happens to deliver the feature you're using; the suggested rewrite is shown only to you, and you decide whether to use it or send your original.
Our AI provider processes this text to return a result and, under our agreement, does not use it to train their models. We are not able to offer end-to-end encryption of message content, because the tone-checking feature requires our systems to read the message text. Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest.
4. How we share information
We share information only in these circumstances:
- With your co-parent — the people in your family share messages, calendar, finances, and children's records. See §6.
- With service providers — vendors who process data on our behalf to run the app. See §5.
- For legal reasons — if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the safety of a person. Note that you can already export your own records yourself.
- In a business transfer — if ParentPact is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
5. Service providers & sub-processors
We rely on trusted third parties to operate the service. Each processes only the data needed for its function.
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Authentication, database, file storage, and backend functions (hosts your account, messages, files, and records). |
| Anthropic | AI generation of suggested rewrites for advisory-flagged messages (see §3). |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management and entitlement. |
| Apple & Google | App distribution and payment processing for subscriptions. |
| Twilio | Voice calling between co-parents. |
| Expo | Delivery of push notifications. |
Providers may change over time; we will keep this list current.
6. What your co-parent can see
ParentPact is a shared record between the parents in a family. Your co-parent can see the messages you send them, shared calendar events, expenses and reimbursement requests, children's records, and call history within your family. They cannot see your password, your payment details, or data belonging to any other family. Because ParentPact is designed to create a reliable, court-ready record, messages you send cannot be deleted (see §8).
7. Children's information
ParentPact is intended for use by parents and guardians — adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and children do not create accounts. Information about a child in the app is entered and controlled by the parents in that family, who are responsible for what they choose to record. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will address it.
8. Data retention & immutability
To serve its purpose as a trustworthy record, ParentPact keeps your data for as long as your account is active. Messages are immutable: once the brief edit window passes, a message cannot be edited or deleted, by you or by your co-parent. This is a core, intentional feature.
If you close your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements — and except for records that are jointly part of your co-parent's account. You can export a complete copy of your records at any time before closing your account.
9. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly in the app (edit your profile, export your data) or by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Note that our ability to delete shared, immutable records is limited as described in §8.
If you are in California, the EEA, or the UK, additional rights may apply; contact us to exercise them and we will respond as required by applicable law.
10. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, row-level access controls that isolate each family's data, and access restrictions for our team. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you of a material breach as required by law.
11. Call recording & consent
Calls are recorded only when every participant explicitly consents on that call, and we log that consent. Recording laws vary by state and country, and some require the consent of all parties. You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you. If you do not consent, do not proceed with a recorded call.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves or as laws change. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
